Early Years

In our recent Ofsted inspection, it was observed that "The overall effectiveness of the Early Years Foundation Stage is good... By the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, they (children) make good progress in their learning and achieve good outcomes. Their greatest achievement is in their personal, social and emotional development." (Ofsted, January 2010)

"Children are friendly and work collaboratively as a team. They are polite and helpful, with positive relationships. Many of them demonstrate independence in their selfchosen activities and persist at tasks. There is a good balance between adult-led and child-initiated activities and these are well enjoyed by children." (Ofsted, January 2010)

The four principles of our Early Years provision are as follows:

  1. Every child is unique.
  2. Every child is a competent learner. With our input they will become resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  3. Positive relationships.
  4. Children learn to be independent from a base of love and respect, of which working with parents, and the Key Person system, are essential components.
