Head's welcome

Hendon Preparatory is a member of the Cognita Schools Group, chaired by Mr Chris Woodhead. One of over 50 schools in the group, Hendon Preparatory serves the wider community of North London, attracting pupils from neighbouring suburbs as well as being a 'local' school in Hendon

We are truly multi-cultural; all major religious faiths are represented within our school community. We teach, not preach about religion. We encourage good manners, respect, consideration for others and a sense of personal worth.

Everyone has strengths, everyone can improve and all are encouraged to develop personal targets and goals. Our small classes enable individual attention for each child.

Although a mixed ability school, we also encourage academic excellence and invite candidates to sit for our scholarship examinations, as well as prepare our pupils for scholarships to senior schools. This includes not only the traditional academic areas, but also Music, Art and Sport. Our whole school community strives to bring out the best in everyone; our pupils belong to one of four 'Houses' within which each pupil has a 'buddy'. This helps to develop healthy competition and social responsibility among the pupils.  Each class not only has a dedicated form teacher but also a pupil representative on the School Council. Pastoral care is strong and pupils are able to be individuals, we foster good home/school links with regular opportunities to discuss pupil progress. We also encourage parents to join the active parents' association.

Whilst we hold bi-annual Open Mornings, prospective parents are encouraged to visit the school during the working week. During these bespoke visits, you'll receive a personal tour of our school and we can discuss your child's education.

Come and visit us, see what we are about; 'Quality Education: Traditional Values'.
