The ICT curriculum

The enriched curriculum allows pupils to develop advanced skills in the following four areas:

  • Keyboard Skills - increases speed accuracy and confidence
  • Integration - project work from other curricular areas is blended with ICT to allow pupils the opportunity to apply learnt skills.
  • Evaluation - enables pupils to critically appraise their use of ICT as a tool for research and presentation.
  • Self Assessment - encourages pupils to take pride in their achievements and recognise ways they can progress

ICT teaching begins in Reception where themes in the classroom are explored using art, text, recording and manipulation software. ICT progresses throughout the school, building on learning, so that by Year 8 the pupils are expected to be proficient enough to integrate ICT into project work. For example in a project entitled 'The Apprentice', Year 8 design a business venture using their ICT skills.
