Year 6 spent a morning learning about the life of a typical Roman legionary from the time of Hannibal.
They looked at a legionary’s equipment, armour and clothes and learnt how being a Roman soldier didn’t just involve fighting. Soldiers had to develop trades and skills and were expected to read and write. Their daily life was organised and timetabled, a bit like being at a very strict school.
Unfortunately, our Head of History, Mr Musetti, found that his waist-line had become a bit too stretched for his chain-mail! Nevertheless, the children ended the session by building a Roman camp, thereby applying their leadership and team-building skills.
