Nursery
The main objective of our nursery is to create a setting where our children feel emotionally safe and secure. Our qualified staff provide a happy and stimulating environment where children have the opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace. Independence and individuality are encouraged, as they form the basis on which autonomous learning can grow. The calibre of our provision is such that our nursery has been included in the London Borough of Barnet Directory of Good Practice.
Our staff-pupil ratio of 1:4 allows us to follow the Early Years curriculum very closely. In essence this means that activities are planned for each child on the basis of ongoing observations and assessments. Each child is allocated a key person who will develop a genuine bond with the child. They will play an important role in helping the child to settle and to navigate social interactions and nursery routines.
The learning area comprises of a large indoor classroom, an adjoining conservatory for messy activities, and a decked outdoor classroom. We also make use of the adventure playground and main school playground, where children can explore and develop their gross motor skills.
Parents are their child's pre-eminent teachers. Recognising this, our staff strive to develop a close and trusting working relationship with them. This includes both constant feedback on progress, as well as the opportunity to join in with social and cultural activities.
