Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

The welfare of every child is at the heart of everything we do at Hendon Prep

Our aim at Hendon Prep is to create an environment in which pupils feel safe, happy, secure and valued.

The intention of our pastoral care is to prevent problems, both personal and academic, from arising. The invaluable partnership we share with parents plays a pivotal role in creating a cohesive and thriving educational community, where we collectively pave the way for a bright and promising future for our students.

Join us in shaping a bright and promising future for your child, where their happiness, wellbeing, and success are at the heart of all we do.

Pastoral care takes many forms

Class Teacher

Our staff are passionate about developing pupils’ academic progress and supporting their emotional wellbeing. The role of the class teacher is a hugely important one when it comes to wellbeing, as they are the first person a child sees every day, and this creates familiarity and trust between pupil and teacher.

House System

Pastoral care is enhanced at Hendon Prep through our house system, which provides additional opportunities for both pupils and staff to feel more connected and involved with the school community. It facilitates interaction and discussion with both the youngest and the oldest pupils in our school, and ensures that every child feels valued and part of a tight-knit community.

Golden Rules

From Preschool to Year 6, all pupils and staff at Hendon Prep follow our Golden Rules. These rules are based on sound moral values, and they permeate every aspect of school life, providing safe guidelines for everyone to follow. They are clearly depicted around the school and help our children have a clear picture of what good, respectful behaviour looks like to ensure fairness and equality, and help to keep every member of our school happy and safe.

STEER Tracking

We are an accredited STEER Tracking School. STEER Tracking is a proactive way to safeguard students’ mental health through the use of a breakthrough tool which enables us to track and improve the social and emotional development of all pupils in Year 3 and above in a non-invasive way. STEER Tracking identifies hidden social-emotional risks that might otherwise go undetected, equipping teachers to proactively target their support, and measure impact.

The Hendon Prep Preschool is a wonderful setting for the children to explore and develop in a nurturing environment. The school is filled with happy children alongside an experienced and dedicated team of staff.
