Year 3

Overview

Year 3 is an important transition year from the junior department into the seniors. The weekly PSHE lesson, which usually takes the form of 'circle time', provides an opportunity for pupils to explore their growing level of self- responsibility, whilst feeling supported by the guidance and encouragement of their teachers. Encouraging pupils to take pride and a greater responsibility in the presentation of their work is a good example.

Teachers demonstrate their expectations in terms of handwriting and layout, individualise their guidance, and encourage all with praise. As the year progresses the children's sense of pleasure in their self motivated achievements grows, laying a solid foundation for future study habits.
