Using London as your educational oyster

Hendon Prep

In order to provide the very best for your child, there are several elements to consider when thinking about where your children will attend school. If you are considering where to send your child, the many assets that London offers provide an educational oyster for learning.

The bustling city of London is rich in culture and offers a haven for education, both in and out of the classroom. As a leading private preparatory school in Northwest London, Hendon Prep sees and develops the potential in every child. Our children engage enthusiastically with knowledge, embrace new ideas and are intellectually stimulated beyond their age.

Variety of travel opportunities

London is one of the busiest cities in the world and has a wide range of transport links to match the huge demand of people travelling on a daily basis. With comprehensive transport links across the city, prospective parents have a broad choice of schools that are all within easy reach. At Hendon Prep, we are well located with easy access into and out of Greater London and surrounding boroughs, allowing for easy commuting during school time, for both students and parents.

London transport is also very accommodating to young travellers. Children aged 11 to 15 years can travel free on buses and trams and at a reduced child rate on the tube, DLR and London Overground services, provided they have an 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard.

Location is everything

When it comes to education in London, location is everything. Few cities equal the offerings that are available in London. As well as serving the growing population of the country’s capital, private schools in London provide a number of additional benefits and opportunities.

The great outdoors

London boasts an abundance of outdoor space that is perfect for the development of creative young brains. Outdoor spaces, including Regent’s Park and Hampstead Heath, are a staple to Hampstead’s neighbourhood culture. These areas are a hub for families and students alike; full of shops, restaurants and all sorts of activities for you and your children to explore, allowing them to develop social skills outside of the classroom.

Other fantastic outdoor spaces to encourage learning are places such as Fenton House and Gardens. This grand 17th-century house offers stunning views of the City of London whilst being submerged in beautiful grounds, where students can discover hidden treasures and collections of early musical instruments and ceramics.

Likewise, Golders Hill Park in Hampstead Heath offers an equally beautiful place for young people to explore. With wonderful displays within the Mediterranean and water gardens, as well as a popular café, bandstand, all-weather table tennis, zoo and butterfly house and a children’s play area, it really does offer everything that you would want from the great outdoors.
