Year 3 is an important transition year at Hendon Prep where children prepare for their move into Senior Prep. The Year 3 children follow a broader curriculum including; English, Maths, History, Geography, French and Art which has been devised to stimulate and challenge them, giving them the confidence they need to begin to question and inquire for themselves and become critical thinkers.
PSHE lessons, which usually takes the form of ‘circle time’, provide an opportunity for pupils to explore their growing level of responsibility, whilst feeling supported by the guidance and encouragement of their teachers.
We promote high levels of achievement and effort and encourage pupils to take pride and a greater responsibility in their work. As the year progresses the children’s sense of pleasure in their self-motivated achievements grows, laying a solid foundation for future study habits.
In Year 3 pupils take part in a wide variety of sporting activities including swimming, rounders, athletics, tag rugby, hockey, football and cricket, depending upon the season. This is in addition to PE classes which include basketball, volleyball, netball and circuit training.
