A child’s educational journey at Hendon Prep starts in our wonderful Preschool, where firm foundations for learning are established. We encourage children to join us as early as the term in which they turn 3 so that they experience our exciting two-year rolling curriculum.
Reception is the start of a child’s more formal education, and the first stage of their 11+ journey. Our Preschool children are given first consideration for one of our sought after Reception Class places, however we do have a small intake of Reception children who have not been enrolled in the Preschool and, as a non-selective school, these places are offered in order of application, it is therefore advisable to register your interest for a Reception place as early as possible.
Registered children are invited to attend an informal admissions meeting a year before they are due to start school, where they will be informally assessed so that we are able to ensure that we can meet the individual needs of every child.
Year 1 and upwards
Chance vacancies do sometimes become available in Years 1 and above, in this instance, after registering, children are invited into the school for a ‘taster session’ when they will spend time with their future classmates and be assessed in Maths and English
Pupils leave the school at the end of Year 6 when the vast majority of them sit 11+ examinations for entry into some of the most selective senior schools in the country.
