From Year 5 onwards the way in which the children work changes completely. They are no longer primarily based in one room but move around the school and are taught by individual subject teachers in dedicated classrooms. Each year group still has a Form Tutor who is responsible for pastoral care.
The curriculum in Year 5 & 6 follows the ISEB structure, so that, as examination season approaches, the children have fully covered the skills and knowledge required for each subject.
Years 5 & 6 have a full programme of Games including swimming, hockey, rounders, athletics, tag rugby, football and cricket, depending on the season. They also have an additional lesson of PE once per week where they enjoy activities such as circuit training, basketball, netball and volleyball.
In January of Year 6, girls sit entrance examinations for their senior schools. The exam preparation process is managed with great care so that the girls feel confident and can realise their full potential. We keep in close contact with parents throughout the Autumn term, meeting regularly to discuss a child’s progress and advise on senior school options.
